Since the Industrial Revolution, human society has made tremendous progress, but various environmental issues have also emerged.
In recent years, addressing global climate change has become an urgent issue as glacier melting, rising sea levels and extreme weather events impact everyone's lives.
To address global climate change and other environmental issues, Toyota Gosei (China) has set a goal of reducing factory carbon dioxide emissions under the slogan "Environmental TG".
Especially since 2023, the Toyoda Gosei (China) has officially announced its Zero Emissions Declaration, aiming to achieve carbon neutrality (Scope 1 & 2) across all its production plants by 2030.
In addition, to accelerate the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions throughout the product lifecycle, cross-departmental projects have been implemented across the entire company to achieve Scope3 targets. To foster and enhance environmental awareness among all employees, "Environmental Month" activities have been launched.
In the future, the company will continue to jointly launch challenges under the slogan of "leaving a green, resource-rich earth to future generations and children" to contribute to protecting the earth's environment.
he Toyoda Gosei Group formulated its 1st Environmental Action Plan in 1993 based on its environmental policy, and since that time has been actively confronting environmental issues. In February 2016, we announced our TG 2050 Environmental Challenge, and have set targets to be reached by 2030 as milestones. We have also formulated a 5-year action plan in which activity items and targets are set and are carrying out activities to protect the environment.
Globally, we have placed integrated environmental functions in the regions of the Americas, China, ASEAN, and India. The Group is also making efforts as a whole with area control in five global regions, Globally, we have placed integrated environmental functions in the regions of the Americas, China, ASEAN, and India. The group is also making efforts as a whole with area control in five major regions, the above four plus Europe/South Africa. United as one, the entire Group is committed to advancing environmental initiatives. These efforts are made in conjunction with government agencies, customers and suppliers.
The Toyoda Gosei Group specializes in the field of high polymersーrubber and plastics. Our symbol is the benzene ring, a hexagonal hydrocarbon structure that is the starting point for polymers. Borrowing from the six sides of the benzene ring, the TG 2050 Environmental Challenge sets six challenges to strengthen our environmental efforts with a long-term view to the year 2050. As a roadmap to achieve that, we have set targets for 2030 (Targets 50&50) as milestones and formulated a five-year Environmental Action Plan to guide our efforts.
A Greener, Richer World for Future and Our Children
The company has begun implementing relevant activities.
On August 9, 2023, Toyoda Gosei Group announced on its official website a revised carbon neutrality goal for Scope 1 and 2 emissions generated by its production activities—moving the target year from 2050 to 2030, a full two decades earlier.
Aspiring to be a leader in environmental sustainability, the company has been setting medium-term targets since 1993. In 2016, the year following the adoption of the Paris Agreement, the company committed to achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. Now, recognizing its corporate responsibility to address the escalating risks of climate change worldwide, the company has significantly accelerated this timeline.
To meet this ambitious new target, TG will intensify and expedite efforts in two key areas:"energy conservation through innovations in production technology and continuous daily improvemaents", and "transitioning to renewable energy sources"
For energy conservation, the company will fundamentally reevaluate manufacturing processes—particularly for core rubber and resin components—to reduce CO₂ emissions while simultaneously enhancing cost competitiveness. Regarding energy transition, Toyoda Gosei will expand renewable energy adoption via solar panel installations, green power procurement, and non-fossil fuel certificates.
Moving forward, the company will deepen collaboration with suppliers more than ever before. United as one group, Toyoda Gosei will contribute to protecting the global environment through the development of eco-friendly materials and products, as well as revolutionary manufacturing practices.
